An information seminar for all users of the Internal Market Information (IMI)
System in Malta was organised on 05 November 2010 at Dar l-Ewropa in Valletta. This seminar was
organised by the National IMI Coordinator’s office of the Commerce Department and was very well
attended. Nearly 50 officials representing Competent Authorities and Ministries involved in IMI
participated in the seminar. The half-day seminar focused on two aspects:
- Administrative Cooperation provisions of the Services Directive
- Data Protection elements of the IMI system
The presentation on the Services Directive was given by Mr Anton Spiteri and Ms Phyllis
Farrugia from the Ministry of Finance, the Economy and Investment while the presentation on
Data Protection was given by Mr Saviour Cachia from the Office of the Prime Minister. As
well as being informative, the seminar also served as a good exercise of networking between
users of IMI system.
